Gold Cost Beaches
It’s what the Gold Coast does best – long stretching, clean, sandy beaches. Here’s an intro to the beaches plus some photos and a map at the bottom.
Main Beach/Narrowneck – popular with kite surfers and at the northern end, at The Spit there is often people learning to surf with an instructor. Between the Spit and Narrowneck it’s usually not to difficult to find a quite spot.
Surfers Paradise Beach – Gets busy during the holidays, but on the flipside, it’s where all the action is. It’s still a great beach for early morning and late afternoon walks.
Broadbeach – can be quieter than Surfers Paradise beach. The Kurrawa Surf Club and shops at Broadbeach are handy.
Mermaid Beach – most of the homes along the beachfront are private homes but the beach is still public access, easy to find quite spots.
Nobbys Beach – quite and relaxed
Miami Beach – the large hill here provides a great lookout along the beach in both directions. Usually easy to get a park right at the beach, during the week at least. For most this stretch there’s no development between the road and beach, so you can park and enjoy the view, and easily walk straight down to the beach.
North Burleigh/Burleigh Heads – quite a popular foreshore, again there’s no development between the road and beach apart from the North Burleigh Surf Life Saving Club and green space which includes seating and several barbecues etc. The beach gets busy on weekends particularly at the northern and southern end. At the southern end there’s amazing views through to Surfers Paradise from the car park at Burleigh Heads National Park.
Tallebudgera Beach – Popular with families as it’s close to the tourist park. The Tullebudgera Creek offers still waters.
Palm Beach – quite and relaxed.
Currumbin Beach – popular with surfers, families and kayakers who enjoy the waters of Currumbin Creek, the parks and the breaking water near Currumbin Rocks.
Tugun Beach – quite and relaxed
Bilinga Beach – quite and relaxed
Kirra Beach – the southern end of Kirra beach is popular with surfers and kite surfers. The beach here is really wide is some spots so there’s plenty of room for games.
Coolangatta Beach – a beautiful wide sandy beach, plenty of room and being at the foot of Greenmount it’s a quite scenic spot too.
Rainbow Bay – a beautiful little piece of beach between Greenmount and Snapper Rocks, wildly popular with surfers.
